It's official - as of yesterday, Donna is retiring, effective January 1, 2010!! You may have gathered that there have been things going on at work (that are best not discussed here) that led me to decide this was the time to do it. The first VP and a former president asked if they could meet with me to discuss things, and my announcement pretty much preempted the meeting. The definitive comment was, "Well, this isn't exactly as we expected the meeting to go!" For the most part, I've really enjoyed this job, with things only becoming more dicey over the 12-18 months. So, I'm happy to be able to leave while I'm still able to maintain friendships and go out on a positive note.
It's a little scary as I've always had a check coming in, so I'm not sure how I will deal with just watching money go out......but I may as well find out. The first thing I want to do is just have a little time to kick back and do some things for myself. If I get bored, I can always look for a stress-free part time job. While this may not be the best time to do something like this, with the economy as it is, I don't think one can wait for things to be perfect.....or we would never do anything. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. Keep your fingers crossed!!
My cousin, Tommy, has been given about 6 months, unless someone can come up with something miraculous. They are hoping to go to Chapel Hill to see what the surgeons there think, but it doesn't look at all good. I'm just so sad for them.
Hi Donna,
Congratulations!!!! Soon you will wonder where you got the time to go to
work!!!!!
Love,
Eileen
Great news, Donna.
Hello Donna
This retirement business is great - it should have been invented years ago!
Just not being under any pressure or stress is wonderful - don't ask me how
we fill our days, they just seem to pass.
Don't worry about the money (says Mrs Rothschild !) - you don't need to lay
out as much when you don't go to work and you will always cut your coat
according to your cloth. Anyway it will give you more time to visit us.
Congratulations again from Jean and Doug.XX
